A little bad news. Plan B which is the team that was coming to do the demo is cancelled. I'm going to talk with the sales manager about another possible intern project. Well my day went like always. Spent the first half between folding boxes and working on the line. After awhile I was asked to fold a load of boxes. This really does speed up production for the shippers. Towards the end I was helping one of the shippers with on of the orders. It really isn't that hard. I really want to be the ones who actually go around the warehouse and gather the products and bring them to the shippers. I also would like to ship on my own. Just a thought.

I had a little special project with the shipping manager today. I had to place little stickers with a bar code and a whole sale code for the customer. ESS only does for that for certain customers. I spent almost 3/4 of the day working on that. I spent the final hours folding boxes and finish up cleaning the line.

June 28, 2010
Today started off like everyday. Clean up the place, vacuum for one hours and watch the line. I was asked again to fold boxes for the shippers. I did that for about half the day. The person who usually stays on the line had an errand to run they put me on the line to finish up the day. So say safe to say I've actually spent a whole day by myself on the line if you include last week as well. By the time he left, he helped me clean up the line alittle so it was backed up. If I can keep getting a good nights sleep this won't be so hard. Plus the commute does take it out of you.
Additinoal note: I've worked it out and I'll be able to stay Wednesday nights so I can be here half the day on Thursday.

I noticed that I've been working under the shipping manager for awhile. He can me a task of helping the guy upstairs which is where we keep the clothing and pads. First I had to do a little remodeling with some wires. One of the wires powering a fan was low and the fire marshall didn't like that, so I had to made it so it was higher in air. Next I helped fold some additional. This was after I folded some more boxes down stairs for the shippers. Once again towards the end of they day I jumped back onto the line and helped clear a lot of packages and load up the truck.
On a side note I rearranging my money issue so I can actually stay at least one night here in Wilmington. It's going to be on Wednesday nights so I can be here at least half the day on Thursday. It puts less stress on me and my car. Hopefully I'll be able to do this.

Today was a little easier. I helped the people in the warehouse by folding a mad load of boxes. This actually speeds up production for the shippers so everything is sent out on time. Towards the end of the day I just back onto the line because they had enough boxes to last them until tomorrow. We actually finished up the finally packages 15 minutes before the UPS truck came and loaded up the remaining packages. This day actually went by really fast.

Today I was put to the test because I was on my own till about 4 or 5 o'clock. I was in charge of watching the line which is what the packages are put on before we tape them up and load them into the truck. To make matters a little heavy on me, it was extremely hot and Mondays are the worst day because we have orders that have been waiting to be put out since Friday and plus the ones being put in today. However I was able to pull it off. Finally help did come and I was able to relax a little, but just a little. That was very difficult to do with the heat but I did it.

I have a awesome opportuinty in the making. Plan B which is a huge skateboard company is coming to ESS for a demo open to the public. I'm going to be in charge of the marketing/advertising the event. I'm going to use this as my internship project. I'm waiting for more details to arrive so more to come. Today started off slow but picked up over time. Started off my day cleaning a huge fan for the upstairs. However something went wrong not long after we finshed and set it all up. It kept leaking so we shut off the pump that makes it feel like A/C. I was asked my the shipping manager to fold some fog dog boxes. Which is mainly used for complete setups. I folded about 100 of those boxes so that was that. I actually learned something today which I thought was awesome. I learned to do drop ship and regular ship. I learned to drop ship first. All I have to do is make sure what I have matches with my sheet. Put it through the computer print out the labels and print an invoice and ship it. I handled the last 10 orders and it was easy once I got the rhythm down. It was cool than I learned how the shop orders were done as well. These take up a lot of time. You have to make sure what you have is what you want to ship and keep track of it all. Also sometimes you have to create your package slip because not everything will fit into one box. Once that was all done the day was over and I finished up loading up the truck.

Today was a very very slow day. The day start off by the computers messing up so no new orders were coming through. I did do about three more halls upstairs. It is extremely dusty up there. With nothing to really do I started folding a load of boxes again. At least I was making myself look busy and not just standing around. Around the end of the day I started loading up the truck again. We finished up 15 minutes early and the truck came at 6, on time, and we loaded it up as slow as possible. Only 58 boxes were loaded up which is lower than usual.

Nothing new to report. I'm still working with David in maintenance. It's a lot more work than you really think. I started my day with vacuuming the upstairs where we keep the clothing. I was only able to complete 3 halls before I ran out of cord. We usually vacuum for one hour a day any way. I finished the rest of my day by folding several boxes and loading up the final truck so we could get out of there. However we had a lot of boxes to load up and the truck didn't show up on time and we still had boxes to be loaded up. We waiting for about 10 minutes waiting for the truck. Finally it can and my day ended.

Today was a little slow at first because the computers went down for the first half of work. I knew however towards the end we would get extremely busy. I started my day crushing boxes that were waiting to be crushed. After that was done I rolled around the warehouse looking for trash that needed to be picked up. I also went through the aisles of the decks to get any other trash. After that I asked one the people who could operate fork lift and get me down several pallets of 10 decks. Those are the main boxes that are used and what I fold. I wanted to get those down so I can get several started and when it got low I just start up again to keep the guys flowing. Other than that nothing new to report.

Once again I was in the warehouse. I started off my day loading up the trucks with the packages. I was on top of everything. I crushed several boxes with the spare I had waiting on the other boxes. This lasted unitl about 10:30. The Joe asked me to just fold boxes because two people weren't at work and so glad I did fold those boxes. Around 3 or 4 all the orders were set up for the shippers. So almost everybody were shipping products. I ended up helping David load up the truck. Even with my help we stayed an extra hour trying to load up the truck. However we did get it done and that it was a relief. On a little side note, my motivation was high but it just went through the roof today. ESS had several interns before me but I'm the first one to really be in the warehouse like I am. Most of them were in the office with the sales manager or with the sales force. I'm the first to really bust my butt with everyone in the warehouse. I always thought that was all the interns did. It lifted my spirits a lot to hear that.

Today went by very fast. We are replacing part of the floor with new cement that the fork lift will be able to roll over with ease. In order to start that we had to tear up the old one and sweep it out. Once that was done, there were several boxes ready to be put into the truck. That lasted a good while but after that we had a little project to complete. It is very hot in the warehouse and they only have very little fans to work with. So David and I set up several fans around the warehouse to keep the guys cool. It's a big difference now. Spent the remainder of the day loading up the truck.

Today I was in the warehouse again. I've been working a lot with David who is the maintenance person here. He does a lot of the cleaning here and loads a truck full of packaged products. After awhile I was given a task of folding a load of boxes for the shipping people. Once I had the pallets folded I was under Joe. Joe gave me the task of getting these decks from a company that never got started. I had to organize them and we were going to try to trasform them. By that I mean put a different graphic on it. After I organized them by shape Joe turned on the machine. He did one just to see what would happen. We only had enough time to one. I'm thinking that is what I will be doing for awhile when I return on Monday.

June 1, 2010
Today I got to be in the warehouse day. We had huge shipment from our vendors come in today. With the Memorial holiday yesterday we are a little behind everything. I helped unload the truck. It reminded me of when I was with DaVille Skate Shop. After that I was given the tast of cleaning a door that wasn't clean for at least six years, according to one of the employees. After that I was given the task of vacuuming. A lot of places here are very dusty but one place that is very important to be vacuumed is where we keep the decks. That's our main product and Mr. Reggie like to think about it as his living room. He wants to keep it clean like he has company over. After one hour of vacuuming I started to help the people in shipping. Since we had a three day weekend our orders started to pile up. To help out the shipping people I started folding boxes for them so all they have to do is pack the product and also when I had a little extra and time to kill I helped seal the packages and loaded them into a truck so the UPS guy could get what he needs. Before I knew it operation had seized at 6. Tomorrow is unclear what I will be doing but I will find out.
